Y20 Summit Delegate: Rachael Stock

Rachael has undertaken work placements with K & L Gates in Brisbane. She also actively participating in a number of local orchestral and performing arts groups. She is a member of the Royal Flying Doctors Service Rockhampton Auxiliary and is also completing a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Accounting at Central Queensland University.

After graduation, Rachael intends to gain professional admission while continuing to work within her local community. Rachael is attending the Y20 Summit in Shanghai with Global Voices and is looking forward to the opportunity to participate in conversations with young leaders from around the world.

As part of the Global Voices Research Fellowship, Rachael is evaluating the Murray Darling Basin Economic Diversification Program and other strategies to promote and develop sustainable technology industries in regional Australia. This project is inspired by Rachael’s local community, which is currently feeling the effects after the contracting mining industry.

Looking through Rachael's Spotify playlist right now, you’d find a bit of Maroon 5, her absolute favourite, as well as some Coldplay, Foster the People and some James Morrison with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

If Rachael could meet one person it would be Barack Obama. She loves the way that he connects with his audience when speaking in public as well as admiring his policies and positions.

Loving the snow and the fact that you can find something for everyone to enjoy, Rachael’s favourite travel spot is Queenstown in New Zealand. However, she’d love to add New York City to her list of travel spots.

Central Queensland University is a valued partner of Global Voices and supports us in our mission to provide opportunities for young Australians to engage with global issues and policy making.
